cross platform - Jetson Xavier NX and Java

Question

I'm looking to write code in Java and run it on my new Jetson Xavier NX. I'm using a VM running ubuntu 18.04 as host and already downloaded the SDK manager and flashed it to my Jetson. I tried adding Java to NSight Eclipse without success, it seems as the only way I can run the Java files is after writing some code in regular Eclipse and sharing the files via google drive to only then run them on the Jetson... it feels wrong for some reason. Is there any way to run the Java files on my host when the Jetson is the target or writing Java straight on the Jetson?
