yaml - Jenkins Job Runs Successfully, but no deployments happen in the environment

Question

One of my App team had an issue where the Jenkins job ran successfully without any errors , but there was no deployment in reality. The app team spent few days troubleshooting until they found out that the issue was in the indentation in the YAML spec file. Any idea how to ensure Jenkins reports correct errors and the job doesn't run if there is an issue with the YAML spec file syntax
