xcode12 - xcode 12 autocomplete broken inside header files

mac os big sur, xcode 12.3

autocomplete and hints do not work inside header files. another user seems to have had similar problems (xcode 11, no solution found) Xcode 11 header file issue

in my case, syntax highlighting and compiler messages do work inside header files. "just" not autocomplete and hints.

any suggestions would be dearly appreciated, thx.
