I'm attempting to resize some glyphs in FF. Particularly, a square glyph and a circle glyph inside a ttf file. I use the transformation menu to scale uniformly and I reduce the size to 78%nand apply. It seems to work in metrics but when I generate and preview in windows or view it in Excel or the like, the glyphs are squished so the square becomes a tall rectangle and circle becomes a squished oval.
Is there a trick or extra step I'm missing? I've tried messing with the right boundary and randomly trying different settings but it always comes out squished in preview.

Here's the windows font viewer after generation. You can see with each size level, the distortion changes. Somehow I got the circle to not distort, but I don't know how because it was distorting earlier.
