I would like to know how developers restrict usage of non-activated applications.
This is not a question to learn how to nefariously exploit and crack applications. Rather a way to learn how I can make my applications distributable commercially without a CD/DVD.
For instance: do I have to hard-code a different serial number in every compilation of a copy of mt app ?
Any bibliography/terms-to-search/steps-for-a-good-development-scheme is appreciated.
