amazon kinesis - Could recordsLimit manually trigger a poll?

Question

I've been recently doing some local testing with high idleBetweenPolls and a low number of recordsLimit.

Let's say that if I had an idle of a minute and a limit of 10, Kinesis still retrieves from the latest poll 40 events... So it isn't a hard limit it seems.

Is there any way from a user perspective to manipulate the polls so that when there are 5 (or whatever value recordsLimit has) items within Kinesis we can already force a poll?
