Generally speaking,

someString = "Stack Overflow"
someList = list(someString.split(" "))
print(someList) # This shows ['Stack', 'Overflow']

A better way to handle spaces,

someString = " Stack        Overflow    "
someList = list(" ".join(someString.split()).split(" "))
print(someList) # This shows ['Stack', 'Overflow'] instead of ['', 'Stack', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', 'Overflow']
