youtube dl - Latest updated youtub-dl keeps on showing "Unable to extract video data"

Question

I have updated my youtube-dl into the latest version by doing the following command

$ pip3 install --upgrade youtube-dl

Requirement already up-to-date: youtube-dl in /home/snow/.local/lib/python3.8/site-packages (2021.1.16)

and no matter what I try it shows me the following error message

> youtube-dl --extract-audio --audio-format mp3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smn0HOvwoZ8
[youtube] smn0HOvwoZ8: Downloading webpage
ERROR: smn0HOvwoZ8: YouTube said: Unable to extract video data
