I am successfully converting a desktop website to be also mobile-responsive using Bootstrap 4. The page used to take up only a narrow -say 70% of total width- column with two empty columns on either side. That's what I wanted.
Now, the desktop design is taking up the whole screen both on square and rectangular monitors and everything within it is way too large. I've tried media queries, meta tags, etc. I don't seem to find a way to have the same design I had on desktop only. Any ideas, please?
