How to Develop MS Word Add-in Using Python

Question

I am a beginner Python user, and I am trying to develop an add-in for Microsoft Word that will do simple things such as: finding and amending words, styling the footnotes etc.

I found some material on Microsoft's website about developing such add-ins in JavaScript, but I could not find anything for Python (forgive me if I haven't searched enough).

Would anyone be able to direct me to some resource that is a walkthrough or some kind of explanation of how to create a MS add-in?
