I'd prefer not to do borderless windowed if possible, and it seems like this is a lot easier to do than it was back when similar questions I've looked at before were answered, (for example, chat program Discord has plug-and-play overlay, even in exclusive fullscreen mode, and I've never heard of it tripping a game's anti cheat, either) so I want to know how these effects are accomplished? I want to make something that I can script with embedded Lua, so that I can leave most of the complex graphics API in whatever compiled language I choose to use. That way I can figure out that stuff once or twice and not have to worry about accidentally fucking it up later.
