.htaccess - How do I remove the .html

Question

I searched this question up a lot of times and I have NO IDEE why its not working. I really could use some help here!

My website is hosted on bplaced.net and I am trying to remove my .html ending.

I am using an .htaccess file with following code:

RewriteEngine On 

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d 

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f 

RewriteRule ^([^.]+)$ $1.html [NC, L] 

---

and my file is in the path: www/csgo/file.html

front url: http://SAMPLE.bplaced.net/

end url: http://SAMPLE.bplaced.net/csgo/file.html (the goal is to remove the .html)

while my index file is in www/index.php

I tried to redirct and to replace and I am open for every solution!
