I am struggling to find a workaround to add a new column to my data model within PowerBI because I have it set to utilize a Live Connection to a SQL Server Analysis Services model.
I don't really have the option to use anything else - as the Analysis Services offer me the data I need which cannot be obtained from regular SQL Server.
Additionally, when I try to import a table specifically rather than establishing a live connection, the changes are never applied because it seems to time out. There is a massive amount of data in there so this doesn't seem like the best option.
When utilizing an Analysis Services connection, there doesn't appear to be a way to utilize DirectQuery, which would technically offer me the ability to create new columns and measures.
Therefore, I'm totally lost on what to try next. I feel like there has to be a way to work off of the live model and create a new model that can be refreshed manually, where I could have the ability to create a new column/measure.
Does anyone have experience with this or have any recommendations?
